Ten easy ways to help the environment

Below are ten simple steps you can take to help save the planet. Look through the list and tick off which apply to you. Then send us your name, address, gender and age and whether it applies to you at home, school or work using the electronic form below. Every month we will go through all the submissions and pick out a winner to have their picture taken 'being green' for our green gallery.
'Green' prizes will also be presented to each winner by a representative of our company. Whatever age you are - you might be 'going green' as part of a work or school project - let us know so that we can build up a picture of how green Wigan really is. If you can't tick any of the boxes below, hang your head in shame!

1 - I recycle household waste using locally provided facilities

2 - I turn the tap off when brushing my teeth

3 - I have switched to energy-saving light bulbs

4 - I leave the car at home at least once a week and walk, cycle, car share or use public transport

5 - I use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable

6 - I reuse carries bags when I shop

7 - I buy more seasonal and unpackaged food

8 - I hang up my washing to dry rather than using a tumble dryer

9 - I organise or volunteer in an enviromnental project in my local community

10 - I choose not to fly when there is a suitable alternative
